Veterinary Oncologist (DACVIM – Oncology) | San Mateo County, CA
We're looking for a board-certified Veterinary Oncologist to lead advanced cancer care within our specialty and emergency hospital in San Mateo County, CA. This role offers the opportunity to build and grow a thriving Oncology Service alongside a collaborative team of specialists, while delivering exceptional, evidence-based care to patients and unwavering support to referring veterinarians.

What You'll Do:
- Provide comprehensive oncology consultations, diagnostic workups, and individualized treatment planning — including chemotherapy, surgical oncology coordination, and palliative care
- Diagnose and manage the full range of malignancies in companion animals, integrating advanced diagnostics (cytology, histopathology, imaging, staging) into treatment decisions
- Collaborate closely with emergency clinicians, internists, surgeons, and other specialists to deliver coordinated, whole-patient care
- Maintain close, professional communication with referring veterinarians regarding diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and patient progress
- Educate clients on diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, and long-term disease management with compassion and clarity
- Help shape clinical protocols and standards of care as the Oncology Service continues to grow
- Mentor technicians, interns, and team members, and contribute to ongoing case discussions, journal reviews, and continuing education
- Participate in on‑call responsibilities as needed to support continuity of patient care
What We're Looking For:
- DVM degree with DACVIM certification in Oncology (or board‑eligible)
- Active California veterinary license, or eligibility to obtain one (reciprocity available for out‑of‑state licensees)
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and a collaborative mindset
- Genuine passion for compassionate, evidence‑based cancer care and building lasting relationships with clients and referring DVMs
