SAGE Redwood City is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Medical Oncologist to join our collaborative specialty team on a part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established oncology service while helping expand access to specialty cancer care with the goal of growing the service to six days per week .

Located in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula, SAGE Redwood City brings Specialty, Emergency, and Urgent Care together under one roof. Our hospital manages a busy and complex caseload and has built a tight-knit culture where clinicians genuinely collaborate to provide the highest level of care to patients and their families.

You’ll work alongside an impressive group of boarded specialists in Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dentistry, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Rehabilitation, and Surgery , as well as experienced Emergency and Urgent Care veterinarians. This breadth of expertise creates an ideal environment for multidisciplinary cancer care and complex case management.

Our state-of-the-art hospital provides the technology and infrastructure to support advanced oncology medicine, including in-house CT and MRI, five well-stocked operating rooms, and separate canine and feline critical care units .

In your day-to-day, you will:

  • Manage oncology cases across a diverse and complex referral caseload
  • Develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans for patients with a variety of malignancies
  • Collaborate closely with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, Emergency & Critical Care, and other specialty teams
  • Coordinate comprehensive cancer care from initial diagnosis through treatment and follow-up
  • Oversee chemotherapy protocols and provide thoughtful, individualized recommendations based on each patient's needs
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic capabilities, including in-house CT and MRI, to support oncology workups and treatment planning
  • Collaborate with the hospital's surgical team on patients requiring oncologic procedures
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and ongoing care
  • Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians and serve as a trusted oncology resource for the community
  • Mentor technicians, assistants, and support staff involved in oncology case management
  • Help expand oncology services with the goal of providing specialty coverage six days per week
  • Pursue continuing education and professional development opportunities within oncology and the broader SAGE/Ethos network
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, compassion, and clinical excellence

What You Bring

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for California veterinary licensure
  • Board Certification in Veterinary Medical Oncology (DACVIM – Oncology) or residency trained in Medical Oncology and board eligible
  • Strong clinical and communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working within a multidisciplinary specialty environment
