Position Overview

Veterinary Specialists of Birmingham is seeking a residency trained or boarded Medical Oncologist to join our progressive, collaborative, patient‑centric 24‑hour emergency and multi‑specialty hospital in central Alabama.

About the Facility

Our 12,000 sq ft state‑of‑the‑art hospital is fully equipped with 9 exam rooms, 3 surgery suites, a central ICU, and advanced diagnostics. The following equipment and resources are available:

• Central ICU
• 9 exam rooms
• 3 surgery suites
• Paperless record keeping with ezyVet EMR and Smartflow Sheet whiteboard
• CT
• Digital radiography
• Ultrasound
• Fluoroscopy
• Flexible and rigid endoscopy
• Laparoscopy / arthroscopy
• Full in‑house IDEXX laboratory
• Coag and thromboelastography (TEG)
• Oxygen generators
• Hospital‑wide backup electrical generators
• Multi‑parameter monitors
• Ligasure
• Stapling devices
• Central oxygen and nitrogen
• Central suction and anesthesia evacuation
• Doppler blood pressure monitoring
• Ventilator
• Pleura‑vac
• Pneumatic and battery‑powered surgical equipment
• Pair of Snyder oxygen cages

Job Responsibilities

As a member of our oncology team, you will provide expert medical oncology care, collaborate with veterinary surgeons, internists, and specialists, and contribute to both clinical service and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Residency trained or board‑certified Medical Oncologist
• Strong medical knowledge and clinical decision‑making skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Commitment to patient‑centric care and continued education
