Overview
IndyVet is a progressive specialty and emergency hospital that prioritizes patient care and teamwork. We offer a Veterinary Student Externship Program designed to provide immersive clinical experience in a high‑case‑load environment featuring specialists in critical care, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, and ophthalmology.
Ideal Candidates
- Veterinary students in good academic standing at an AVMA accredited Veterinary Medicine school
- Seeking experience in an emergency and specialty practice

Externship Responsibilities and Expectations
- Attend daily case rounds, grand rounds, journal club, and lectures as scheduled
- Participate directly with clinicians in case management
- Externs scheduled for four or more weeks must present a case to staff during lunch sessions
Duration
The externship ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Preference may be given to students in their final year(s) of veterinary school.

- On‑site housing is available at no charge to externs
- Stipend of $250 per week to cover expenses
