Veterinarian Associate Director

The University of Kentucky’s Division of Laboratory Animal Resources (DLAR) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinarian Associate Director . This vital role supports and enables groundbreaking research across the University.

About the Role:

This position will educate University faculty, staff and IACUC members on issues relating to humane and appropriate care and use of animals used in biomedical research. Assist researchers in protocol development and execution. Serve as a mentor for DLAR veterinarians with less experience and training. Provide oversight and operational management of DLAR Programs which may include:

• Experimental Surgical Unit
• Rodent Surgery Program
• Quarantine and Sentinel Program
• Breeding and Technical Services
• Veterinary Services
• Necropsy and Histopathology

Required Education / Experience

DVM, 5 years of experience, and State Veterinary License AVMA Certification.

Our highly skilled and dedicated staff is comprised of technicians and technologists, certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, an internationally recognized leader for education in the field of laboratory animal care.
