Lab Tech (Veterinary)
Role Mission: Performs laboratory screening of blood, fecal or urine samples to determine treatment needed of rescued dogs.
Job Summary: Path of Hope Rescue is seeking a skilled Veterinary Laboratory Technician or a candidate eager to learn and interested in veterinary medicine. The Veterinary Lab Tech will play a critical role in supporting our Medical Pack by performing diagnostic tests, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and distributing medications locally in the Spokane or North Idaho area.
Responsibilities
Sample Collection & Testing: Collection and handling of blood, urine, fecal, and tissue samples from dogs and perform diagnostic tests such as hematology, urinalysis, parasitology, and basic microbiology.
Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
Record Keeping: Accurately document test results, maintain medical records, and communicate findings to Medical Pack and rescue staff.
Health Monitoring: Assist in monitoring the health of rescued dogs by identifying abnormalities in test results and flagging urgent cases for veterinary attention.
Inventory Management: Track laboratory supplies, reagents, and materials as needed.
Safety & Cleanliness: Adhere to biosafety protocols, maintain a sterile lab environment, and properly dispose of biohazardous waste.
