About Lever VC:

Lever VC is a specialist venture capital fund, investing in early-stage alternative protein companies globally. These companies are innovating to create the future of food by developing new protein sources and production methods to replace traditional animal agriculture. We invest at the Seed and Series A stages, typically investing $500k – $3m initially, with reserves for follow-on. We are currently investing our second fund and our portfolio includes a number of the highest-profile startups in the alternative protein sector globally.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented VC Analyst to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting our investment activities, including deal sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling, and portfolio support. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in venture capital and the alternative protein sector, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This is a junior role for an individual looking to get started in VC. Lever VC is a small, lean team and as an Analyst, you will get exposure to all aspects of the firm, and work directly with senior management. Our team is located in New York City, but the role is remote friendly and we will consider candidates from anywhere in the US, with a preference for candidates willing to work New York hours.

Responsibilities:

1. Deal Sourcing & Screening: Proactively identify and research potential investment opportunities in the alternative protein sector. Conduct initial screening of inbound applications, pitch decks, and company materials.
2. Due Diligence: Assist with comprehensive due diligence processes, including market research, competitive analysis, financial modeling, and team assessment.
3. Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain financial models for prospective investments, including valuation analysis and scenario planning.
4. Investment Memos: Contribute to the preparation of investment memos and presentations for the investment committee.
5. Portfolio Support: Support portfolio companies with strategic initiatives, market insights, and follow-on fundraising efforts.
6. Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape within the alternative protein sector.
7. Database Management: Maintain and update CRM and deal flow databases.

Qualifications:

1. 1-3 years of relevant experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or management consulting preferred.
2. Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in financial modeling and valuation.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
5. Passion for the alternative protein sector and a strong desire to contribute to its growth.
6. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
