Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our full‑time Vascular Neurologist, you will be integral to the operations of a world‑renowned stroke neurology team at CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Every day you will contribute to one of the largest and most organized stroke referral networks in the US, leveraging our strong neuro hospitalist, neuro interventional, and neurosurgery components, all unified under a single, highly collegial Institute of Neuroscience. Your work will typically involve a 7‑on/7‑off schedule, with the flexibility to focus primarily on the stroke service or to share your expertise between acute stroke and general neurology services, emphasizing both stroke diagnosis and secondary stroke prevention.

To be successful in this role, you must be Board‑Eligible or Board‑Certified in neurology with a fellowship in vascular neurology, bringing a passion for advanced stroke care and a drive for continuous improvement.

  • Diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with a broad spectrum of vascular neurological conditions within our high‑volume practice.
  • Providing expert clinical care within our world‑renowned stroke neurology team, enhancing our DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center operations.
  • Collaborating closely with a large team of clinicians specializing in stroke neurology, neuroimaging, neurocritical care, neurointervention, and neurosurgery.
  • Executing acute stroke research, including artificial intelligence, device, stem cell, and other pharma clinical trials, with exceptional clinical research support.
  • Managing inpatient stroke patient care through a shift work schedule, with potential for outpatient stroke clinic involvement.
  • Utilizing expertise in shared services between acute stroke and general neurology, with a heavy emphasis on stroke diagnosis and secondary stroke prevention.
  • Participating in Academic & Growth Opportunities, including teaching and/or research on a local, regional, or national level, supported by our strong academic affiliation.
  • Fostering strong collaborations on clinical and research protocols nationally through our direct tie to CommonSpirit Health.

Job Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board‑eligible/Board‑certified in Neurology
  • Completed a Vascular Neurology fellowship program
  • Ability to obtain an active medical license in the state of Tennessee
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS and BLS certifications
