Associate, Valuations | Alternative Investment Manager | New York City
I’m working with a $5B+ alternative investment manager that is looking to add an Associate to its Valuations team in New York.
The firm invests across private credit, structured credit, asset-based finance, insurance-related investments, and other complex/illiquid strategies. This is a strong opportunity to join a sophisticated investment platform and gain broad exposure across multiple alternative asset classes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fair value analysis across private and structured investments
- Build and maintain DCF, yield-based, comparable, and other valuation models
- Value instruments including private loans, structured credit, ABS/CLOs, and other illiquid assets
- Review and challenge third-party pricing and external valuation marks
- Prepare quarterly valuation memos and supporting analysis
- Partner with investment, finance, risk, fund accounting, and external valuation teams
- Support audit requests and valuation documentation
- Monitor credit spreads, rates, market data, and relevant benchmarks
- Support valuation policies and controls under ASC 820
- Assist with new investment structures and other ad hoc valuation projects
Ideal Background:
- 2–6 years of valuation, credit analysis, or related experience
- Big 4 valuation/advisory, investment banking, credit, or alternative asset management background
- Strong financial modeling and Excel skills
- Knowledge of ASC 820 / fair value accounting
- Exposure to private credit, loans, ABS, CLOs, structured products, or other complex assets preferred
- CFA progress is a plus
