Supporting the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System, the full-time VA Licensed Medical Records Coder will perform coding for inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory surgery cases, ensuring accuracy and compliance with official coding guidelines in a remote work environment. Key Responsibilities Review provider documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes according to coding standards Complete initial coding within five calendar days and maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate as measured by audits Initiate and resolve provider queries for unclear documentation and participate in regular meetings with HIM staff Required Qualifications Current active coding credential from AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC) Minimum of two years of professional coding experience at a comparable VA medical center Formal training in anatomy, medical terminology, and coding conventions (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS) Proficiency in Oracle Health coding workflows and the Solventum CRS encoder U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a favorable VA background investigation
