Utilityman/Conductor TraineeJob Responsibilities:Operate switches in any area of trackSafely transport personnel as neededEnsure handbrakes are applied in rail yardsPerform brake test and customary car inspectionsLine trains in and out of rail yardsAssist Conductors to safely expedite train movements in and out of rail yardsAssist train crews with point protectionAssist in lacing train line air hoses and bleeding off carsMinimum Qualifications:Must pass all company designated tests designed to measure basic skills, job skills, mechanical aptitude and / or other interests, skills and characteristics with a minimum of 85%Must have all test(s) satisfactorily completed within the first 90 daysMust have a valid driver's license Class E or aboveMust have successfully completed the TOST/Ramsey TestMust be able to work in either Clewiston or Bryant Yard(s)Ability to maintain clear and proper communication by hand signals, radio and lanterns with Yardmasters, Remote Control Operators, Engineers and ConductorsCheck switch points for proper alignmentAbility to read, speak and write EnglishAbility to work with others and or alone with minimum supervisionAbility to follow instructions and communicate information pertaining to the jobAbility to follow proper safety and housekeeping procedures pertaining to the areaAbility to perform mathematical calculations pertaining to the jobAbility to work the posted schedule in a production environment including shift work, overtime as necessary, holidays, nights and weekendsNo active disciplinary action and good work historyEducational and previous work experience will be consideredWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements:The work environment characteristics and physical requirements described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
