Utility OperatorThe Utility Operator position is responsible for supporting the bag lines to safely deliver the highest quality products at the best efficiency and lowest scrap possible through the use of effective manufacturing methods. The Utility Operator reports to the Shift Leader.Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesMake the allowable amount of box bottoms and lids according to specification for your shift and to start the next shift, and keep the machines stocked with the allowable amount of box bottomsWhen pallets are full, place them in the drop area of the warehouse for shipping/receiving to put awaySupply all raw materials to the bag & box production areaEmpty all scrap containers once per shift or as neededBale scrap as requiredResponsible for doing scheduled PM work to material handling equipmentAssist operators and QA to assure that quality standards are upheld and that any suspect or defective product is appropriately destroyed or placed on hold for the Quality Facilitator's review and decisionWork as a valuable team member throughout the production room to accomplish the business goals:Help inspector/packers and bag machine operators as neededAssist and work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Technical resources to ensure that issues are being addressed to optimize the performance of the lineProvide feedback and suggestions for improvementsCommunicate in a positive and respectful manner to resolve all issuesComplete all documentation accuratelyAsk for help when the need arisesAssist in the training of other personnel in the material handling departmentCompetency Statements Act: Safely, Responsibly and Ethically. Integrate: Core Values of Commitment, Responsibility, and Innovation into all aspects of work.Qualifications RequiredHigh School Diploma or GED.Basic computer skills.Ability to work safely and effectively with minimal supervision.Previous manufacturing experience.Forklift certification (or the ability to obtain it) preferredAbility to stand for 12 hours; Ability to lift up to 26 lbs.
