Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and user research with vulnerable groups (e.g., elderly, immigrant communities)
  • Develop user personas and detailed journey maps
  • Translate user needs into functional and technical design requirements
  • Create high-fidelity wireframes and UI designs
  • Develop plain-language, user-friendly content strategies
  • Build interactive prototypes using tools like Figma
  • Facilitate usability testing and iterate based on feedback
  • Ensure visual and design consistency across all platforms
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders
Mandatory Requirements - Candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years in UX/Product Design
  • Research & Design Skills:
    • Strong expertise in user research methodologies (qualitative & quantitative)
    • Experience conducting usability testing and user interviews
  • Technical Tools:
    • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
    • Ability to produce high-fidelity designs and prototypes
  • Collaboration:
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, etc.)
  • Communication:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience designing for multilingual audiences (Spanish, Chinese, Russian)
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Mobile app (iOS/Android) and responsive web design experience
  • Accessibility expertise (e.g., senior-friendly design, screen readers, high contrast UI)
  • Experience working within municipal or enterprise design systems
  • Familiarity with NYC or similar large-scale public sector digital environments
