IT Application EngineerChevron is looking for an IT application engineer who will be responsible for integrating Information Technology with chemicals manufacturing business processes and Oronite regional processes in Belle Chase, Louisiana (New Orleans Metro Area). This role includes support analyst scope. The application engineer should be able to effectively represent acquired business requirements and collaborate with IT development teams with a primary focus on maintaining vendor software and optimizing evergreen support through configuration, automation, and integration.Education: Management Information Systems; Computer Information SystemsSummary: The main function of a software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications. Job Responsibilities: Modify existing databases and database management systems. Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions. Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.

Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage one’s time. Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery. Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue. Knowledge of computer hardware and software. Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required. 5-7 years experience required.Ability to effectively communicate, interact and build relationships with stakeholders at various organizational levels to understand needs, business priorities and digital roadmaps.Collaborate with IT colleagues globally to represent Oak Points technical and business requirements.Work with developers, testers, and architects to collaboratively deliver applications, interfaces, and IT services as neededTroubleshoots and fixes errors by applying basic Oronite site application analyst knowledge and skillsApplies in-depth knowledge of business domain to develop and enhance business workflowsManages and automates application testing suitesFacilitate application releases in participating in user acceptance testing and/or coordinating with business usersEnsure all solution components are well documentedCandidates are shortlisted based on qualifications not the lowest Bill Rate, however managers will review the bill rates and location of the shortlisted candidates when making their selection.
