We are looking for a compassionate and positive Veterinarian to join a brand-new, state-of-the-art small business urgent care center. Our goal is to provide the best veterinary care to our furry friends throughout southeastern Massachusetts, seeing both scheduled appointments and walk-in cases. In this role, you will utilize a problem-based approach to diagnose, treat, and provide top-tier care in a fast-paced, fun environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working closely with clients, highly skilled in routine surgeries and urgent care stabilization, and ready to thrive in a modern clinical setting.

Job Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough physical examinations, diagnose and treat diseases, and provide preventive care as needed.
  • Utilize a problem-based approach to develop complete problem lists, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plans, and appropriate treatments based on test results.
  • Safely perform anesthesia and routine surgeries, including but not limited to: canine and feline spays, neuters, minor mass removals, laceration/wound repairs, dental procedures, and managing urethral obstructions.
  • Stabilize critical patients and develop treatment plans for outpatient hospitalization.
  • Transition patients to overnight care as needed and communicate effectively with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Maintain proper and thorough documentation of all patient observations, exam findings, diagnostics, treatments, medications, and client communications in the medical record.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients and staff members to continuously improve the level of care provided.

Qualifications And Certifications

  • Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school or its equivalent.
  • Licensure: Current DEA license and a current Controlled Substance License in Massachusetts (or the ability to obtain by the start date).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in urgent care stabilization, soft-tissue surgery, and veterinary dentistry. Experience with more complex surgical or dental procedures is a strong advantage.
  • Soft Skills: Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, hear, and see. Ability to safely lift and move up to 25 lbs unassisted, including animal patients.

Additional Information

  • Job Type: Full-time, Part-time, or Per Diem available. (Full-time employees work under 32 hours over 4 days a week).
  • Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 4 days a week. Requires 50% weekend availability. Clinic hours are Monday-Thursday 2pm-10pm, Friday 10am-10pm, and Saturday-Sunday 11am-7pm (closed major holidays).
  • Work Location Type: On-site. Must reliably commute or relocate before starting work.
  • Location: Hanover, MA.
