Urgent Care Physician

Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) is seeking an Urgent Care physician for a hospital-employed opportunity in Portsmouth, Wheelersburg, or West Union, OH. This role involves working in a facility that combines Urgent Care and Family Practice services, operating seven days a week. The position offers competitive compensation packages, including base salary options and production incentives, designed to attract dedicated healthcare professionals.

Practice Info

• Practice locations include Portsmouth, Wheelersburg, or West Union Family Health Center.
• The facility operates 7 days/week, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
• Staffing includes 1 nurse per provider and 2 providers per day.
• The team also includes 4 APPs.
• Case load is 30-50 patients per day.
• Equipment includes IV pumps, slit lamp, basic instruments, AED, and EKG.

Responsibilities

• Make quick initial assessments and treatment plans.
• Complete charts timely.
• Participate in Antibiotic Stewardship.
• Provide care in an Urgent Care and Family Practice setting.

Compensation

• Option #1: Base salary of $292,680 (50%tile MGMA for those just completing training) with additional compensation for experience, guaranteed for 2 years.
• Can be switched to a wRVU production contract when exceeding target.
• Option #2: Base salary of $366,170 (75%tile MGMA) guaranteed for one year and then switched to a wRVU production contract.
• Bonus Incentives: excellent bonus incentives up to 10% of salary.
• Medical School Loan Repayment: repay up to $200,000 ($25,000 per year for each year of service commitment).
• Sign on Bonus: 15% of base salary up to $100,000 (paid when contract signed and forgiven over 2-4 years).
• Residency Stipend: up to $25,000 (requires up to 2 year service commitment).

• Deferred compensation: 457b plan. Defer compensation up to IRS limit of $24,500 year before taxes. No matching.
• Retirement / Savings Plan: 403b plan. Defer compensation up to IRS limit of $24,500 year before taxes under age 50 and $31,000 for over age 50. SOMC matches dollar for dollar up to 2% of base pay.
• Moving Expense: $10,000 paid to moving company.
• Malpractice Insurance Coverage: in a claims made insurance, in an amount of $2,000,000, per claim/$6,000,000, aggregate.
• Health Insurance: provider pays small premium, deducted from paycheck.

Shift & Schedule

• Office Hours: 8:00a-8:00p.
• 6 or 7 12-hour shifts per two-week pay period.
• Rotating weekends.

• Confident in making a quick initial assessment and treatment plan.
• Employment is contingent upon passing the post-offer physical examination, drug test, and criminal background investigation.
