Our client in California is actively seeking an Urgent Care Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant for an 80-day assignment. This role involves evaluating and treating patients presenting with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, performing focused assessments, and providing essential follow-up care. The clinician will work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM in an outpatient clinic setting.

- Patients per day: 18 - 22 at full speed

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients presenting with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
- Manage a wide range of conditions, including asthma, COPD, bronchitis, pneumonia, URI, influenza, COVID/viral illness, persistent cough, sinusitis, and pharyngitis
- Perform focused respiratory assessments, including pulse oximetry, and determine appropriate treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing such as chest X-rays and basic labs
- Prescribe medications, including inhalers, antibiotics, steroids, and nebulizer treatments when clinically appropriate
- Initiate and adjust inhaler therapy, providing comprehensive patient education
- Conduct rapid testing for COVID, flu, RSV, and strep, as available
- Provide oxygen assessment and supplemental oxygen management
- Identify patients requiring a higher level of care or emergency department transfer
- Provide follow-up care and patient education for chronic respiratory disease, including smoking cessation counseling
- Participate in care coordination and facilitate referrals to outside specialists when needed
- Support the clinic’s community health and culturally competent care initiatives
