Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care and support to multidisciplinary health team working within the scope of practice of a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- Serves as a clinical expert through patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and consultation, while maintaining program excellence and professional growth.
- Responsible for developing comprehensive care plans, coordinating patient care, delivering ongoing treatment while fostering a strong patient‑provider relationship.
- Committed to cost‑effective care management, optimizing resource utilization, and enhancing patient experiences through continuous process improvement.
- Provides direct patient care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high‑quality, evidence‑based outcomes.
Education
PA must be a graduate of a program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission for Physician Assistant Programs (ARC‑PA) or graduate of a nationally accredited school of nursing with Bachelors in nursing and Masters Degree in advanced practice nursing.
Experience
A minimum of one (1) year of physician’s assistant experience in a primary care or emergency care environment is preferred.
Certification & Licensures
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association required
- Successful completion of a Board exam that is recognized by the Board of Medicine is required. Recertification, if required is necessary
- Active Virginia and/or West Virginia State License
- Active Virginia and/or West Virginia DEA
- Successful completion of an ACLS course if required within 120 days of the hire date
- Maintains and provides proof of CME requirements as put forth by the Virginia Board of Medicine.
