UNIX Systems Admin 3This is a full-time position located in San Jose. The candidate should have 2-5 years of experience and a bachelor's degree. Relocation and bonus are available.Primary Job Responsibilities:Manage and monitor systems to drive troubleshooting and tuningFirst and second tier resolution of production issues and alertsUnderstand all components of the eBay site infrastructure in order to analyze impact of alarms and other system messagesWork with external teams to diagnose complex problems and drive resolutionUtilize industry standard and custom tools to diagnose and resolve production issuesResolve errors and alarms quickly and provide timely escalationComplete tasks required to maintain service levels and availability of all site features and functionsHelp lead development efforts, especially in tools and automation projectsPerform Systems Engineering Tasks as neededCoordinate with vendors and assist in hardware replacementsAt all times ensure efficient and reliable websiteJob Requirements:5+ years of Unix Systems Engineering ExperienceAbility to manage and troubleshoot large scale systems and high transaction web operations environmentsPassionate about Operations - you like to make things run and fix them when they breakAbility to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environmentWilling to work in a shift model during the day, 12 hours a shift, multiple shifts in a rowExperienced with large and distributed systems like cloud computing (Hadoop,) web services, multi-tier serving architectures etc.Knowledge of common system administration tools, Networking (LAN and WAN,) Unix, Windows, Load balancers, DNS, TCP/IP and Storage technologiesAdvanced working experience with scripting especially in creating tools to automate repetitive tasksFamiliarity on clustering concepts especially VERITASAdvanced knowledge of Perl, PHP, Python or RubyBe familiar with Agile software development practicesProduction experience with large scale system deployment and configuration toolsProven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem resolutionExcellent verbal, written and documentation skillsEducation Bachelors Degree or EquivalentAdditional Information:All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
