Unit ManagerThe Unit Manager oversees specific operations within the department to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient performance at all times. This role provides leadership to Lead Technicians and Technicians and is responsible for achieving and sustaining production, maintenance, cost, and regulatory compliance targets within the assigned operational area. The Unit Manager drives operational excellence, develops team capability, and supports continuous improvement across unit operations.Tasks & Responsibilities:Lead, coach, and support Lead Technicians and Technicians within the assigned unit to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operationsOversee day-to-day unit operations to meet production, maintenance, cost, and compliance targets while maintaining operational stabilityPlan, prioritize, and coordinate unit work activities based on operational needs, production schedules, and maintenance plansManage staffing, training, performance, and corrective actions to support continuous unit operation and employee developmentServe as the primary escalation point for unit-level operational, maintenance, and personnel issuesMonitor field equipment and unit performance to proactively identify risks, upsets, and improvement opportunitiesEnsure all work is executed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standardsParticipate in incident investigations, safety audits, work performance audits, and PM compliance reviewsManage the unit budget and implement cost control measures to support operational and financial goalsTrack and communicate unit KPIs, productivity metrics, and improvement initiativesPerform mandatory shop floor audits to identify hazards and non-compliances and document findings in required EHS system.Drive continuous improvement through troubleshooting, process optimization, and reliability initiativesEnsure accurate and timely SAP documentation, including maintenance notifications, work orders, labor hours, and material updatesCoordinate production activities and communicate unit status, priorities, and unresolved issues through shift reports and routine updatesDevelop technician skills and strengthen understanding of equipment, processes, and operating standardsTrain, qualify, and mentor unit personnel on job duties, SOPs, and equipment operationMaintain strong working relationships with unit teams, other departments, and shift leadershipSet clear communication expectations and promote effective use of communication tools across the unitDefine, review, and audit spare parts inventory requirements in collaboration with engineering and procurementDevelop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, training materials, and MOC documentationPerform required shop floor audits to identify hazards, non-compliances, and improvement opportunitiesLead or support unit-level projects, capital planning activities, and plant turnaroundsPromote a positive, accountable, and continuous improvement–focused team cultureKnow, understand, and enforce all Safety and Environmental (EHS) policies, procedures, and regulatory requirementsPerform other duties as assigned to support operationsQualifications:High school diploma or equivalentBachelor's degree with emphasis on a technical field preferredWorking knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), maintenance management and ERP softwareMinimum 5 years of experience in production, maintenance, engineering and/or process improvement roles including leading teams of peopleMust be able to walk long distances and stand and work for more than 2 hours in tough environmental conditions (high temperature, high humidity, noise & dust), and withstand heights of up to 500 feetMust have the ability to effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
