Job Duties

  • Must complete FTO awareness training
  • Manages and oversees special projects as assigned by the Captain.
  • Reviews complaints regarding subordinate personnel to determine investigative needs.
  • Responds to scenes of violent crimes or major incidents to ensure proper response/investigation.
  • Communicates with other law enforcement agencies and EBRSO divisions relative to ongoing investigations.
  • Approves completed reports, probable cause, and warrants of subordinate personnel.
  • Arranges work schedule as necessary to cover shifts of absent personnel.
  • Schedules training for subordinate personnel, approves time sheets, and PTO requests.
  • Assists subordinate personnel by recommending appropriate actions, methods, or procedures to be used.
  • Performs inspections of equipment and uniforms.
  • Conducts patrols of residential neighborhoods, businesses, and schools in a vehicle, motorcycle, or on foot to reduce and deter crime activity.
  • Provides traffic control, investigates traffic accidents, and writes citations.
  • Investigates citizen complaints by interviewing complainants, witnesses, and suspects.
  • Investigates and secures crime scenes.
  • Gathers evidence necessary to substantiate charges.
  • Writes detailed reports regarding complaints, evidence, and other investigative information.
  • Participates in community events and interact with the public
  • Makes lawful and legal arrests of those who violate the law.
  • Appears as a witness in court as necessary.
  • Performs desk duty at the Substation when necessary.
  • Answers questions from the general public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five years of continuous service in Criminal Operations, 2 years of that service in Uniform Patrol. Have served as a Sergeant in Criminal Operations. (Prior supervisory service in criminal operations at another agency may be considered.) Note: You must have at least 12 months of continuous service with EBRSO before being eligible for promotion.
  • No disciplinary suspensions in the last (6) six months; all other disciplinary or corrective actions will be reviewed by the promotion board.
  • Basic Law Enforcement P.O.S.T Certification.
  • Firearms qualified
  • Good communication, public relations and problem solving skills.
