Underwriter Team Lead

Serving as a senior individual contributor, the full-time remote Underwriter Team Lead will evaluate large, complex, and higher-risk merchant accounts while providing guidance to the underwriting team and ensuring sound risk-based decisions are made within delegated authority. Key responsibilities: Underwrite and manage large, complex, and higher-risk merchant accounts, exercising independent judgment to evaluate various risks and make decisions Provide guidance and training to underwriters on policies, procedures, and complex risk situations, enhancing their capabilities Identify emerging risks and contribute to the development of underwriting practices, ensuring consistent application of standards across the organization Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with 10+ years in underwriting, credit, risk, payments, or financial services Deep knowledge of merchant acquiring, payment processing, credit underwriting, and fraud detection Demonstrated ability to assess complex financial and operational risks independently Strong understanding of risk-mitigation tools and Card Brand requirements Exceptional analytical skills with proficiency in underwriting and risk-management systems
