Remote Contract General

Inland Marine & Property UnderwriterIAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for an Inland Marine & Property Underwriter from our Naperville or Rolling Meadows, Illinois location. We're looking for someone who's ready to play a meaningful role in expanding our presence across the region. You'll manage an existing portfolio while actively building new business, helping grow our footprint in a region that's a key focus for us. This is a role for someone who wants to make an impact, not just maintain the status quo.

This isn't a behind-the-scenes role. It's visible, collaborative, and growth focused. This position follows a hybrid schedule: in the office Monday through Wednesday, with the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.Responsibilities:Review and analyze underwriting files, using judgment and experience as primary criteria, to accept new business or continue renewals within established authority levelReview and analyze all documents within or associated with the underwriting file to establish accuracy in identification and minimizing risk of exposure, utilizing change requests, claim information, loss control and outside databases to identify changes in exposure to riskReview, evaluate and determine account premium levels using sound judgment consistent with established company premium modification plans within authority limitsRead, evaluate and interpret contracts and policies to determine exposures providing guidance and clarification to others consistent with experienceProvide clarification and verification of coverage to the Claims Department consistent with experienceMarket to assigned agencies to achieve acceptable new business flowAssess agency activity; provide clarification to agency personnel about company's position in annual visits to assigned agencies consistent with experiencePerform other tasks as neededQualifications:Must-Have:Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience2+ years of inland marine and/or property underwriting experienceSolid understanding of the insurance marketplace, including pricing and competitive positioningProven ability to build and maintain broker relationships that drive new and renewal businessExperience managing a book of business while contributing to growthStrong skills in pricing, risk selection, and deal structuringWorking knowledge of industry trends, products, and the broader competitive landscapeTo qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposesPreferred to Have:Industry designations CPCU, ARM, or AUINS21, 22 and 23Exposure to loss control or risk engineeringAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographical location related to this specific role.
