Construction Technician

Responsibilities
How You'll Make an Impact
- Understand and follow safety requirements and standards while supporting various construction projects
- Move, secure, load and unload cable equipment, tools and materials
- Dig and restore holes and trenches, bury conduit and cables to support network construction
- Pull lasher, strand and cable between poles to build aerial network infrastructure
- Perform traffic control and flagging to ensure safe worksites
- Operate and maintain crew vehicles
Working Conditions
- Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, day or night, including in poorly ventilated areas
- Stand 50-70% of the time, carry and operate extension ladders, and climb poles as required
- Travel weekly with overnight stays as business needs dictate
- Work overtime, weekends or second shifts and participate in on-call rotation as needed

Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
Skills
- Close and peripheral vision with ability to adjust focus and differentiate wire sizes and colors
- Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladders up to 28 feet and 75 pounds as needed
- Ability to climb poles using gaffs, hooks and climbing belt with a 350-pound weight limit as needed
- Ability to travel between territories and facilities in inclement weather using a company vehicle
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with computer operating systems and software applications
- Ability to complete documentation accurately
- Licenses
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record meeting Spectrum's standards
Preferred Qualifications
Skills
- Knowledge of basic electronic testing equipment such as ohm meters
Licenses
- Ability to obtain all necessary state licenses for installing or servicing security services as needed
- CDL or ability to obtain CDL
