Position Summary
The University of North Carolina Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, is seeking a fellowship‑trained academic urogynecologist for a full‑time, open‑rank position. The incumbent will be clinically active and will dedicate time to research and education. The primary responsibility is the expansion of clinical services.
Responsibilities
- Clinical duties: outpatient and surgical care of complex patients with pelvic floor disorders.
- Evaluation and management of pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, genitourinary fistulae, bladder pain syndrome, mesh complications, obstructed defecation, and fecal incontinence.
- Experience in office procedures such as complex urodynamic studies, diagnostic and operative cystoscopy, urethral bulking injections, intravesicular botulinum toxin injections, sacral neuromodulation, and percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation.
- Surgical skills: extensive experience with vaginal and robotic or laparoscopic repair of prolapse and urinary incontinence with and without graft materials; repair of complex genitourinary fistulae; urethral diverticula; Gartner’s duct cysts; Bartholin’s gland removal; and removal of pelvic mesh.
- Engagement in outreach to attract patients with pelvic floor disorders.
- Research: conduct and assist in research projects, mentor fellows and residents, and pursue research funding.
- Teaching: supervise medical and physician assistant students, residents, and fellows; demonstrate excellence in teaching.
- Communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and patient care.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- MD degree (or equivalent) with completion of a 4‑year ACGME accredited OB‑GYN residency and a 3‑year accredited fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery.
- Board certified/board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery.
- Excellent qualifications and letters of recommendation.
Compensation
Salary will be commensurate with experience and competitive with national standards.
