Ultrasound Tech IPRN

Job Description Summary

Performs ultrasound procedures at the entry level requiring knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology. Must be able to perform high-quality ultrasound examinations for interpretation by a physician on children, adolescents and adults.

Qualifications

• 0–1 year of experience in performing ultrasound diagnostic procedures.
• Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent; must obtain certification within the first year of employment if not already certified.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire; must maintain current BLS certification (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED).

• Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders (continuous).
• Ability to fully use both legs (continuous).
• Ability to reach in all directions (continuous).
• Possess good finger dexterity (continuous).
• Ability to maintain tactile, olfactory, vision, hearing, and auditory acuity as specified.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 200 pounds unassisted and lift patients up to 350 pounds assisted; lift objects from floor to 72 inches, to 50 pounds unassisted, and lower objects to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to push/pull objects or patients to 350 pounds unassisted.
• Muscle ambidexterity and excellent hand‑to‑eye coordination.
• Ability to be qualified for respirator use by medical personnel initially and annually.
• Ability to use hand/power tools and work in dusty areas.

• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Work Experience: 1 year of modality‑specific experience preferred.
Registration/Certification: Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or ARRT(S) eligible, must obtain certification within 12 months.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
