Job Description
The Ultrasound Advanced Practice Provider (US-APP) functions as a highly specialized clinical provider within the Division of Ultrasound, supporting diagnostic and image-guided procedural services. The US-APP practices in collaboration with and under the supervision of board-certified radiologists, contributing to high‑quality, patient‑centered imaging care across inpatient and outpatient settings. The US-APP enhances service efficiency, procedural access, workflow coordination, and quality assurance while maintaining compliance with departmental, institutional, and regulatory standards.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC‑PA).
- Five (5) years clinical PA experience with 2 of those years in a procedural, acute care, or specialty setting (e.g., radiology, interventional radiology, surgery, hospital medicine, critical care, oncology, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an academic medical center or large integrated health system.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, and safe performance of invasive procedures.
- Ability to perform focused pre-procedure assessments and post-procedure monitoring.
- Demonstrated sterile technique and procedural skill.
- Prior independent performance of paracentesis and thoracentesis.
- Prior ultrasound-guided biopsy experience.
License / Certifications
- California Physician Assistant (PA) License without restriction.
- National Board Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- California Driver License (if required for position).
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Additional required AHA certifications: ACLS.
- Additional required certifications (such as ENLS): None.
