UCSB PaCE Part-Time Instructor - Human Resource ManagementThe Department of Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach online courses in our Human Resource Management program for upcoming openings.This program helps students and working professionals develop practical skills in talent acquisition, employee engagement, organizational behavior, compensation and benefits, employment law, HR technology, and people analytics. Courses emphasize applied learning and real-world workplace scenarios that prepare students to support and lead modern workforce initiatives.We seek instructors who bring substantial professional experience in human resource management, organizational development, talent management, HR compliance, or workforce analytics and who are interested in helping students develop practical skills relevant to today's evolving workplace.Human Resource Management Course TopicsHR Foundations & Workforce StrategyEmployee Engagement, Organizational Behavior & LeadershipEmployment Law, Compliance & Workplace RiskTotal Rewards & Workforce PlanningHR Technology & Workforce AnalyticsInstructor duties include but are not limited to:Prepare and deliver course materials aligned with program learning objectives.Design assessments and engaging learning activities that support student learning and skill development.Update course content periodically to reflect evolving industry practices and program feedback.Communicate course expectations, learning objectives, and grading policies clearly to students.Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely and professional manner.Employ inclusive teaching practices that support diverse learners, including students with documented accommodations.Evaluate student performance and assign grades based on established learning outcomes.Submit final grades within university timelines and address student inquiries regarding course evaluation as needed.Maintain student records in accordance with University policies.The posting will remain open until March 31, 2027 to accommodate department needs. The pool will close on March 31, 2027; if you would like to continue to be considered after that time, and the pooled position is advertised again, you will need to submit a new application.Please note: The use of an instructor pool does not guarantee that an open position exists at the time you are applying.

The number of these temporary, part-time, non-tenure track, academic positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department.

Appointments are offered on a course-by-course basis, and appointment length is based upon course section schedule(s). Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.QualificationsBasic qualifications(required at time of application)A bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, organizational psychology, industrial relations, or a related discipline, or a relevant professional HR credential (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).Additional qualifications(required at time of start)A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in human resource management or a closely related field.Preferred qualificationsMaster's degree in HR, business administration, organizational development, or a related discipline or 5+ years of HR experiencePrior teaching, training, or corporate facilitation experienceExperience using Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Moodle, or similar) or willingness to learnProfessional experience in one or more of the following areas:HR strategy or HR operationsTalent acquisition and workforce planningEmployee relations and organizational developmentCompensation, benefits, or total rewardsEmployment law and workplace complianceHR technology systems or people analyticsLearning, training, or leadership developmentApplication RequirementsDocument requirementsCurriculum Vitae - Your most recently updated C.V.Cover LetterStatement of Teaching (Optional)Reference requirements2-4 required (contact information only)The department will conduct a reference check for the finalist before extending an offer.The University of California is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
