As a K-12 school-based Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Baltimore, MD, your days will include:
- Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in academic, functional, and independent living skills.
- Conduct assessments and contribute to the development and implementation of IEPs.
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet individual student needs.
- Teach Braille, assistive technology, orientation strategies, and other compensatory skills as appropriate.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to promote student success.
- Monitor student progress, maintain required documentation, and participate in IEP meetings.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
- Position: Contract (option to renew) in a school setting
- Hours: Full-time (Monday - Friday)
- Caseload: Elementary, Middle, and High School options
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education or a related field
- Certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), or eligibility to obtain Maryland certification
- Experience in a school-based setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and instructional adaptations for students with visual impairments
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
