Piper Companies is seeking a TS/SCI Systems Engineer Principal to support a government-focused defense and intelligence environment. The TS/SCI Systems Engineer Principal role is ideal for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in VDI architecture, virtualization technologies, and secure enterprise systems who is looking to make a direct impact in a mission-critical setting.
Responsibilities
- Design and define VDI architecture to support secure and scalable enterprise environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and achieve mission objectives.
- Support high-performance, fast-paced environments with strict operational expectations.
- Manage and optimize virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments to ensure reliability and performance.
- Perform pre-production testing to validate stability, compatibility, and functionality of VDI updates.
- Implement automation and workflow optimization using scripting tools such as PowerShell.
- Monitor and maintain VDI environments using industry tools and best practices.
- Apply DISA STIG compliance standards to maintain secure system configurations.
- Maintain and manage thin clients using management platforms such as Wyse Management tools.
- Support profile management solutions and ensure optimal user experience across VDI systems.
- Document system designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 8+ years of relevant systems engineering experience.
- Active TS/SCI clearance required.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) required.
- Hands-on experience with Omnissa Horizon hosted on vSphere.
- Experience managing thin clients using tools such as Wyse Management.
- Strong understanding of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and their impact on VDI environments.
- Experience with profile management tools and solutions.
- Familiarity with VDI monitoring tools such as Liquidware Stratusphere.
- Proficiency in scripting languages, especially PowerShell.
- Knowledge of Image as Code tools such as HashiCorp Packer.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience with endpoint security tools such as CrowdStrike or Trellix is preferred.
- Experience with FSLogix, Dell Wyse Management Suite, and application packaging tools is a plus.
Compensation
- Salary range: $145,000 - $175,000
