A law firm seeks an experienced Trusts and Estates Partner with a portable book of business to join their practice in Sterling Heights, MI. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of attorneys and paralegals to provide comprehensive estate planning and trust administration services.
Duties
- Develop comprehensive estate plans tailored to clients' needs and goals.
- Advise clients on tax implications and strategies to minimize liabilities.
- Handle probate processes, including court proceedings and asset distribution.
- Manage and administer trusts in compliance with laws and agreements.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in estate planning, tax law, probate law, and trust law.
- Experience with high net worth families and complex estate planning.
- Proficiency in estate and gift tax planning, including CRUTS, SLATS, GRATS, FLPs, QPRTs, IDGTs, ILITs.
- Experience in succession planning, fiduciary accounting, and tax preparation.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex legal concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Precision in drafting legal documents.
- Experience mentoring junior attorneys.
Education
- Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
Certifications
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Michigan.
