Job Details
- Handle trust and estate litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal memoranda
- Conduct legal research and prepare litigation strategy analyses
- Take and defend depositions
- Appear before Surrogate's Court and Supreme Court
- Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and evidentiary hearings
- Manage document review and discovery processes
- Communicate regularly with executors, trustees, beneficiaries, and interested parties
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex case development
- Assist with trial preparation and courtroom proceedings
- Analyze evidence and develop case strategies for contested matters
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active admission to practice law in New York
- 3+ years of litigation experience
- Experience in trusts & estates litigation, probate litigation, fiduciary litigation, commercial litigation, or other complex civil litigation preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical capabilities
- Deposition experience preferred
- Courtroom experience preferred
- Ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously
- Strong client communication and relationship management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and professional judgment
