The OpportunityA highly regarded insurance carrier is seeking an experienced Trial Attorney or Senior Trial Attorney to join its New Jersey staff counsel office. This is a hybrid position based in Roseland, Hamilton or Marlton.
The role requires two days in the office and three days remote. Base salary range is $152K - $165K for the Trial Attorney position plus a 10% bonus; Senior Trial Attorney base compensation is up to $180K plus a 15% bonus. There is a competitive benefits package and additional long-term incentive compensation.Primary DutiesThe Trial/Senior Trial Attorney provides legal representation to insured clients in the defense of litigated claims, as well as offering legal guidance to internal claims professionals. The position entails managing a full caseload from inception through resolution while ensuring compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Additional duties include the following:Independently represent insured clients in court and present witnesses and evidence in litigated mattersAnalyze complex legal and factual issues; conduct thorough legal research and develop effective defense strategiesDraft pleadings, discovery, motions, and legal briefsPrepare for and handle all aspects of trials and appeals, as assignedProvide timely legal advice and clear communication to clients and claims professionals in accordance with litigation guidelinesAssist in developing training materials for the Claims DepartmentCommunicate professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and clientsManage a caseload efficiently from inception to resolutionTravel as needed for depositions, court appearances, and meetings (approximately 20%)Stay current with legal trends and complete continuing legal education (CLE) requirementsPerform other related duties as assignedRequirementsJuris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school requiredActive membership in the New Jersey Bar in good standing requiredStrong knowledge of New Jersey state laws, court procedures, and local practicesMinimum of 7+ years for the Trial Attorney position; 15+ years for the Senior Trial Attorney positionTrial experience preferredAdmission to multiple state bars is a plusStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent legal research, analytical, and litigation skillsAbility to work independently and exercise sound judgmentProficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and web browsers (Chrome or Edge)Experience with legal case management systems in a paperless environmentStrong typing and organizational skillsKnowledge of the insurance industry and business operations preferredValid driver's license in good standing requiredFrink-Hamlett Legal Solutions is an equal opportunity employer and all applicants will receive consideration for employment without discrimination based on race, color, creed, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or citizenship status.
