Overview:
A respected California-based law firm is seeking an experienced Trial & Litigation Attorney (Senior Associate or Of Counsel level) to join its collaborative litigation team in Los Angeles, Oakland, or San Diego. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated litigation matters involving public sector entities, with a partial emphasis on eminent domain. The ideal candidate will bring strong courtroom experience, strategic litigation judgment, and the ability to manage complex legal matters from early case development through trial.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute litigation strategy in complex civil matters
• Draft and argue pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda in state and federal court
• Handle dispositive motion practice and constitutional or statutory legal arguments
• Build cases for trial, including evidence development and witness preparation
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on active litigation matters
• Represent public sector clients in complex legal proceedings
• Deliver clear and persuasive advocacy in court and throughout litigation

Required Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar admission in good standing
• 7+ years of litigation experience
• Significant law and motion practice experience in state and federal court, including dispositive motions
• Strong experience developing cases for trial, including discovery, witness interviews, and depositions
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage sophisticated litigation matters independently and collaboratively
• Strong professional work ethic and ability to work across office locations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience representing public entities
• Experience with eminent domain matters
• Background in land use or related public agency matters
• Interest in business development and contributing to firm reputation and growth
