Soni Resources is partnering with a Nonprofit Organization near New Brunswick, NJ, on the search for a Treasurer .

The Treasurer leads liquidity strategy, cash management, and net asset oversight for a mission-driven organization, ideally within a CDFI or lending-focused environment. This role ensures sufficient capital to sustain lending and program activity while maintaining strong financial controls, reporting accuracy, and compliance across multiple entities.

Responsibilities

  • Liquidity & Capital Management: Own cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and capital deployment to support lending activity and operations
  • Banking & Creditor Relationships: Serve as the primary point of contact for banks, lenders, and creditors; manage financing arrangements, maintain compliance with debt covenants, and support ongoing access to capital
  • Funding Strategy: Develop and diversify funding sources across banks, CDFIs, foundations, and government programs
  • Portfolio Alignment (Strong Plus): Partner with lending/portfolio teams to forecast cash flows, monitor portfolio performance, and align funding with loan pipeline needs
  • Net Assets Oversight: Manage and report on net assets, including restricted funds, ensuring alignment with mission and funding requirements
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Oversee audits, tax filings, and financial reporting; ensure strong internal controls and regulatory compliance
  • Operational Execution: Monitor receivables, payables, and working capital; support grant and investment lifecycle tracking; drive process improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience throughout nonprofit finance, treasury, or financial management
  • Experience in a CDFI, community lending, or credit/portfolio environment strongly preferred
  • Proven experience working with banks, lenders, and creditors, including managing debt and financing relationships
  • Exposure to loan portfolios, asset/liability management, or credit analysis is a significant plus
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting, including net asset classifications
  • Systems proficiency (Excel and ERP platforms; Yardi, Financial Edge, or Salesforce a plus)
  • Ability to operate cross-functionally in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

Compensation: $175,000 - $185,000

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
