Work Schedule: 8 hours/day (Mon-Fri)
Location: 100% Onsite - Anywhere in the Northeast, U.S.A
Travel: Approximately 100% travel throughout the Northeast region
Overview
The traveling RF Integration Technician is responsible for commissioning and optimizing DAS systems, including commercial wireless and public safety/ERRCS applications. This position provides project oversight and interfaces with Wireless Service Provider RF teams, project teams, implementation teams, and, when applicable, public safety stakeholders or Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
The RF Integration Technician documents commissioning and optimization procedures, measurements, settings, and final network configurations. This position ensures Acceptance Test Plan procedures are completed, approved, and filed in coordination with the DAS WSP RF team. Experience with public safety DAS, ERRCS, or in-building emergency responder radio systems is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform equipment engineering for DAS system sizing, equipment specifications, RF power, electrical requirements, filters, antennas, space, and ancillary materials for multi-tenant DAS environments.
  • Maintain oversight of assigned DAS projects, providing status and technical guidance to internal teams and customer counterparts.
  • Support both in-building and outdoor DAS projects, including commercial wireless and public safety/ERRCS systems.
  • Use test equipment such as transmitters, receivers, spectrum analyzers, optical meters, and related RF tools to perform commissioning and optimization.
  • Provide technical guidance to field personnel troubleshooting DAS head-end, remote, fiber, donor, or related equipment.
  • Interpret and summarize DAS performance metrics, including fiber delay, noise floor, simulcast, power budgets, antenna specifications, coverage, and system performance.
  • Support Acceptance Test Plans, coverage testing, system documentation, and final commissioning records. Public safety grid testing and AHJ acceptance experience are strongly preferred.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • FCC GROL, NICET, manufacturer certifications, or public safety radio credentials are preferred.

Experience/Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of RF engineering experience with a wireless service provider, integrator, or consulting firm.
  • Experience commissioning and optimizing DAS networks.
  • Public safety DAS, ERRCS, BDA, P25, VHF, UHF, or 700/800 MHz experience is strongly preferred.

Other Skills/Abilities
  • Proficient with DAS and BTS hardware.
  • Working knowledge of major wireless protocols, including CDMA, EVDO, LTE, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, and iDEN.
  • Experience with multiple equipment platforms, including Andrew, Client, PWAV, MobileAccess, TEKO, or similar manufacturers.
  • RF predictive modeling and link-budget analysis.
  • Ability to coordinate CW testing and integrate results into predictive modeling tools.
  • Ability to perform RF capacity planning, post-process test data, and make optimization recommendations.
  • Ability to collect CW data and correlate results with predictive models.
  • Understanding of RF coverage, capacity, interference, and hardware limitations.
  • Familiarity with public safety DAS/ERRCS codes, testing standards, and AHJ requirements is strongly preferred.
