Number of Beds: 23

Number of Staff: 37

Patient Ratios: 1:6 for nurses, 1:10-15 for techs

Employee Roles

• Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 4 nurses, 2 techs, 1 unit secretary
• Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 4 nurses, 2 techs

• IV pumps
• Seq pumps
• Vein finder
• Bladder scanner
• EKG machines
• Vital signs integrated systems
• Computers on wheels
• Sera steady

Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Expanse

Qualifications Required Skills:

• Familiarity with Expanse, admissions, and discharges
• Telemetry experience

Preferred Skills:

• Previous Expanse experience
• Ability to draw labs
• At least one year of acute care experience in a Med/Surg Tele or stepdown unit

Typical Procedures

• Lab draws
• IV insertions
• Foley insertions
• Administering IV fluids and medications, including antibiotics
• Preparing patients for surgical and non-surgical procedures
• Communication with physicians

Unit Guidelines and Policies

Attendance at daily huddles at 0645 and 1845 is required, along with bedside shift report and completion of required daily charting.

Weekend Commitment

Four weekend shifts are required per four-week schedule.
