Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry / Med-Surg

Tacoma, WA Acute Care

Contract Full-Time Days 12-Hour Shifts Every Other Weekend Required 1-2 Winter Holidays Required

• Provide direct patient care across a Med/Surg and Telemetry division spanning multiple specialty units including surgical, neuro, ortho/spine, cardiac, oncology, and general medical floors
• Maintain RN-to-patient ratios of 4-5 patients per shift; float as needed to cover the full Med/Surg Telemetry division and, if required, to alternate regional facilities
• Titrate drips per Med/Surg guidelines, including Insulin, Heparin, Nitro, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Cardizem within defined parameters; escalate to critical care when maximum thresholds are reached
• Verify telemetry strip readings in collaboration with remote telemetry monitoring techs
• Manage patients on CPAP, BiPap, and trach support; no ventilator management required on this unit
• May be assigned as a CNA or entrance screener based on staffing need, consistent with expectations applied to all staff

• Active RN license valid in the state of Washington
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience
• Ability and willingness to float across all Med/Surg Telemetry units within the division and, if needed, to alternate regional facilities
• Candidates must not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past year

• Experience with telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
• Familiarity with a broad range of Med/Surg patient populations including surgical, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and oncology cases
• Experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips in a Med/Surg setting
• Comfort working in a high-flex, multi-unit environment with varying patient assignments

• Gain exposure to a diverse range of Med/Surg specialties across a large, well-structured division with dedicated charge RNs and house supervisor coverage
• Rate differential may be available when floating to alternate regional facilities outside of the primary assignment location
