Travel Surgical Technologist

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with 1 year of Ortho & Spine experience and Mako robot proficiency for a fast-paced hospital OR position.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Ortho & Spine surgical technology
• Mako robot experience required with ability to work independently
• BLS certification (AHA)
• Experience with the majority of listed case types, self-rated 3s and 4s on skills checklist
• License required if applicable
• Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the facility

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital OR setting with 8 surgical suites averaging 25 cases per day
• Common procedures include Makoplasty total joints (99% of hips & knees), Stryker and Arthrex shoulder/ankle/hand/podiatry cases, ALIFs, ACDF, arthroscopies, 360 fusions for scoliosis, spinal cord tumors, microdiscs, sports medicine, and pain management
• 15-minute turnover times between cases, 30 minutes for robotic cases
• Uses CPSI charting system
• Day shift schedule primarily 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with possible need for 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM shifts depending on volume
• 1 RN and 1 tech staffed per room, with vendor rep present for implants
• Call rotation required: 1st call for 16 hours, 2nd call for 4 hours on weeknights
• Weekend call approximately 1 weekend every 8 weeks
• Holiday call required on a rotating basis
• Call response time of 30 minutes to 1 hour
• No floating required
• Support high-volume orthopedic and spine surgical cases in a fast-paced, physician-owned facility
• Assist with rapid room turnovers, including cleaning and prepping tables between cases
• Charge nurse functions as board runner, making assignments and serving as a resource
• 2-3 day unit-specific orientation provided
• Hospital provides scrubs for OR staff
• Facility has a friendly, collaborative staff experienced in working with and welcoming travelers
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
