American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with 5+ years of CVOR and open heart experience for a hospital cardiovascular operating room position.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of CVOR experience required
- Open heart surgery experience required
- Tertiary care center and/or designated Level I or II trauma center experience required
- Must be comfortable floating to General OR when needed
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- NBSTSA certification required
- License required if applicable
- Skills checklist current within 1 year, pertinent to CVOR specialty, required for consideration
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years required for consideration
Responsibilities
- Cardiovascular Operating Room unit within a hospital offering Level II trauma care
- Variable day shifts, 10 hours each, with a 40-hour weekly guarantee
- May be floated to the General OR when cases are low, during turnover, breaks, or to open rooms
- Requires working every third weekend
- On-call requirements of 1-2 call nights per week plus every third weekend
- Epic EMR used
- Hospital-provided scrubs
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and problem-solve in relation to the procedure being performed
- Verify items on the physician preference card and remain accountable for supplies to ensure accurate patient chargesAssemble and confirm sterile instruments, equipment, and disposables, ensuring proper working condition for each procedure
- Maintain and monitor the sterile field and recognize breaks in technique
- Set up the sterile field with instruments in a timely manner
- Keep accurate account of medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps per policy
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon throughout the procedure
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius, as local candidates will not be considered
- No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO) permitted during the assignment
