American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with CVOR experience for a hospital Cardiovascular Operating Room position requiring cardiac, vascular, and hybrid case experience.
Requirements
- NBSTSA-Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- BLS certification required (AHA)
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist educational program or approved U.S. Military Surgical Technology training program
- Must have CVOR experience with cardiac, vascular, and hybrid case experience
- Active SC or compact license required if applicable
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and stoop for long periods
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Frequent reaching, twisting, and use of hand/finger dexterity required
- Corrected hearing and vision to normal range required
Responsibilities
- Hospital-based Cardiovascular Operating Room unit
- Day shift schedule from
- 12-week assignment at 40 hours per week
- Requires 2-3 weekday call shifts and every 3rd-4th weekend call
- Uses Cerner EMR for charting
- May float to a sister hospital nearby
- Assist the registered nurse in planning and coordinating patient care during surgical procedures
- Create and maintain asepsis and perform scrubbing duties throughout surgical cases
- Communicate patient information to appropriate team members and maintain accountability for equipment and supplies used during procedures
- Support teamwork and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with peers, patients, and visitors
- Serve as a clinical preceptor for scrubbing duties as needed, following established orientation guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of equipment used during surgical cases
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious materials is expected in this role
- Work under stressful conditions and irregular hours as needed based on department demands
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates will not be accepted
- Travelers may remain on assignment for up to one calendar year from their initial start date, after which a 30-60 day break is required before returning to a new assignment
