American Traveler seeks a CVOR Surgical Tech with cardiac scrub expertise for a teaching hospital position requiring at least 2 years of CVOR experience and prior travel assignment experience
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of CVOR Tech experience required
- Previous travel assignment experience required
- Must be proficient in cardiac scrub
- BLS certification required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
- Skills in vascular procedures including AAA repair, atherectomy, carotid endarterectomy, EVAR, femoral popliteal bypass, TEVAR, and vein stripping
- Skills in general surgery procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, and hernia repair
- Skills in cardiovascular procedures including ASD repair, CABG, ECMO insertion/decannulation, EVAR, mitral valve replacement, pericardial window, TAVR, and VAD
- Flu vaccination required with no exemptions allowed
- Michigan state license required in-hand at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
- Two professional references required from a manager or supervisor; charge RNs not accepted
Responsibilities
- Work in a teaching hospital CVOR unit performing complex, high-acuity cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
- Day/evening rotating shifts including 2x8s (06:30-14:30/14:30-22:30) and 2x12s (06:30-18:30/10:30-22:30)
- Shift rotation is required
- Call requirements include 2-4 weeknight call shifts and 1-2 weekend call shifts per 4-week schedule, with no call shift exceeding 12 hours
- Weekend call is either Friday/Saturday night or Saturday/Sunday day shift only
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Cardiac cases include LVAD/RVAD, heart transplant, aortic aneurysm repair, MVR, AVR, CABG, ECMO, MAZE, and aortic balloon/Impella devices
- Thoracic cases include transplant, VATS wedge resection, VATS/open lobectomy, esophagectomy, bronchoscopy, EGD, mediastinal mass removal, and hiatal hernia repair
- Vascular cases include AAA, EVAR, carotid endarterectomy, AV fistulas, fem-distal bypass, fem-fem bypass, SMA bypass, and vein stripping/ablation
- Robotic surgery support using the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
- Transplant program covering heart, kidney, liver, and lung procedures
- Unit offers flexible scheduling and time-off accommodations
- Call program structured so no shift exceeds 12 hours and weekend call does not consume the entire weekend
- Previous travelers report a positive team dynamic and strong management support
- Time-off requests must be submitted at the time of consideration, with no time off allowed during the first week of the contract
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 1-year separation
- Candidates previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Required certifications must be obtained prior to the start date
- Pre-hire training modules are not required and will be completed onsite during orientation
- Traveler pairs are not accepted for this position
