American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with 3 years of CST experience for an acute care OR position in a rural community hospital setting.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of CST experience required
- Experience with general surgery and orthopedic total joint procedures required
- Plastics experience preferred
- Experience in similarly sized facilities, Trauma Level 3/4, and/or Critical Access Hospitals required
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
- Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) credential via NBSTSA required
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program required
- NBSTSA-CST certification preferred
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- License required if applicable
Responsibilities
- Acute care hospital OR setting with 7 surgical suites
- Average of 5-25 cases per day covering a wide variety of specialties due to rural community hospital setting
- Common cases include general surgery, orthopedic/sports medicine (specifically total joints), plastics and cosmetics, podiatry, cataracts/eye procedures, and OB/GYN/Women\'s Health (non-cancer related)
- Role requires comfort transitioning between scrubbing and assisting
- Cerner EMR used
- Schedule consists of 5 8-hour shifts per week, , with 36 guaranteed hours
- Late stay rotations required 1-2x per week, typically Monday-Friday
- Weekend on-call required 1-2x per month, consisting of 24-hour call shifts (Sat 0645-Sun 0645, Sun 0645-Mon 0645)
- Holiday call rotation may be required, including the day before and day of the holiday, with adjacent weekend coverage in some cases
- Call response time is 30 minutes
- May be required to float into OR scrub role, PACU, or sterile processing
- Scrub for the OR and provide first assist support across a variety of surgical specialties
- Scheduling is managed by the facility manager, and flexibility is needed to help fill gaps in permanent staff scheduling
- Scrubs are provided by the facility and must not be worn outside the facility
- Candidates should arrive to the facility in presentable attire
- Unit-specific orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor and 1-2 call shifts with a preceptor
- Candidates must live within 100 miles of the facility
