Registered Nurse - Stroke/Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Roanoke, VA Acute Care

Contract Night Shift 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block One holiday required per 13-week assignment

• Provide direct patient care in a telemetry PCU setting specializing in stroke, neurology, and hospitalist medicine patients
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration); manage central and peripheral line care
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC (required)
• Float within skillset as needed and adhere to isolation precautions across PCU, IMC, and stepdown settings

• Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Neuro PCU clinical experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia management
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend; candidates residing 50-99.9 miles away may also be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend; candidates residing 100 or more miles from the facility are preferred

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred, though first-time travelers will be considered
• Experience managing IV drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
• Familiarity with remote telemetry monitoring and tele-sitting environments
• Experience working in a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center or Level I Trauma setting

• Opportunity to work at a large, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital offering advanced specialty care in a dynamic PCU environment
• Staffing ratios target 1:4, with an expected ratio of 1:5, supporting quality patient care delivery
