Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry

Wilmington, NC Cardiac Stepdown

Contract Nights 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45-07:15) Onsite

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown/telemetry unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valvular conditions, cardiomyopathy, and vascular disorders
• Monitor and care for post-procedural patients following CABG, TAVR, Mitral Clip, carotid endarterectomy, post-cath, post-DCCV, pacemaker placements, and other cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
• Operate and interpret specialized equipment including EKG, arterial lines, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, Doppler, and bladder scanner
• Document using EPIC, administer medications via Pyxis, and communicate using SBAR methodology
• Float to other units as needed and provide weekend coverage (expected 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period); must be willing to work holidays
• May be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending license acceptable for submission)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience required
• Local candidates (within 50 miles of facility) are welcome to apply; a local pay rate will apply

• NIHSS certification preferred
• Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Stepdown experience preferred
• Familiarity with sheath management and sheath removal
• First-time travelers with the required 2 years of cardiac experience are encouraged to apply

• Work in a high-acuity cardiac environment with exposure to a wide range of complex procedures and specialized equipment, supporting strong professional growth
• Longer contract extensions through early 2027 may be available for the right candidate
