Travel Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) – Inpatient Rehabilitation

Assignment Length: 26 Weeks

Employment Type: Travel Contract

Schedule: 5 Days per Week (Weekend Rotation Possible)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for a 26-week travel assignment in Hawaii. This role primarily supports inpatient rehabilitation and acute care patients, with potential opportunities to treat skilled nursing and outpatient populations as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong dysphagia management skills and be confident performing Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) independently without radiologist supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive, communication, and swallowing disorders.
• Perform and interpret Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) independently.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical findings.
• Provide dysphagia assessment and management for acute care and rehabilitation patients.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and swallowing safety.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
• Participate in discharge planning and continuity of care initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Active Hawaii Speech-Language Pathology License by assignment start date.
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
• Current BLS Certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of Speech Therapy experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS).

Preferred

• Acute Care experience.
• Inpatient Rehabilitation experience.
• Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) experience.
• Experience with dysphagia management and instrumental swallowing assessments.

Assignment Details

• 26-week contract assignment.
• Generally consistent weekly schedule with possible weekend coverage.
• Potential floating to additional rehabilitation units or affiliated facilities based on patient census.
• EMR training and department orientation provided upon arrival.
