American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry unit position requiring 2+ years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA state or Compact) required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience managing continuous IV medications including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips required
- Experience with TR Bands and post cardiac cath care required
- Basic arrhythmia knowledge and Med Surg skill set required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Prior charge experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Cardiac Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes adults to geriatrics with cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and occasional surgical, vascular, ortho, and CVA overflow cases
- Manages conditions such as CHF, chest pain, PE, DVT, stable A-Fib, SVT, bradycardia, and DKA
- Unit functions as overflow IMCU with arrhythmia management and cardioversion
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 32-bed unit
- Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- Typically scheduled every other weekend with permanent staff prioritized for scheduling
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- On-call is rare with a 2-hour response time expectation
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Provide direct patient care on a cardiac telemetry unit managing arrhythmias, cardiac drips, and post cardiac cath patients
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
- Manage feeding tubes, insulin drip titration, and various IV therapies
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, which must be finalized at time of submission
- No RTO may be requested during orientation week or after offer/onsite
- If 1-2 major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested; if 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year\'s Eve/New Year\'s Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Former Piedmont perm, per diem, or FCSS staff must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers previously cancelled or DNR\'d by Piedmont must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before reapplying
- Shift and contract length are firm with no alternate schedule requests permitted
