American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Tele night shift position on a Clinical Observation unit, requiring a minimum of 1 year of telemetry experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri or a compact state license eligible for Missouri
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
- Current BLS certification from AHA required
- NIHSS certification required (must be obtained prior to start if not already held)
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience required
- Experience and competence in drug titration required
- No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled
Responsibilities
- Clinical Observation unit (7D) in a hospital setting with 24 beds
- Patient population includes med/tele and observation patients
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Patient ratios on nights: 1:6–1:7 (ratios are not guaranteed)
- EMR: Epic
- Equipment used includes telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, and tube feeding pumps
- Floating required on a rotational basis
- No on-call requirements
- Weekends required as needed by the facility
- 13-week contract
- Responsibilities include direct patient care for all age groups, encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, significant bending, stooping, and lifting/turning patients with assistance; push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.
- High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
- Black scrubs required; no other scrub colors accepted
- Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for travelers working between November 1 and April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidates must be available the entire orientation week
- RTO up to 5 days may be allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week of the assignment
- Only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and are eligible for the position
- The facility is a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and a Level 2 Stroke Center
