American Traveler is hiring a Neuro PCU RN with a TX or compact license and at least 2 years of PCU experience for a night shift assignment.
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- CPI certification preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings
- Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and HFNC
- Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and TBI
- Experience with cardiac drip management and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and wound care/wound vac management
Responsibilities
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting specializing in Neuro PCU patients
- Patient ratio of 1:4, occasionally 1:5, at night
- Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours, 18:45-07:15)
- Required to float divisionally, cover overflow, and take ED holds
- Must work 2-3 holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
- Provide direct patient care to neuro and cardiac telemetry patients in a stepdown/PCU environment
- Monitor for dysrhythmias and respond using rapid response/code teams as needed
- Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for positive results
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers may be considered if experience requirements are met
- RTO must be submitted at time of application or prior to accepting an offer
