American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring NC or compact RN license and 18 months of PCU experience.
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Experience with tracheostomies, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Responsibilities
- -bed Progressive Care Unit within a Level 3 Trauma teaching-affiliated hospital
- 32-bed unit
- Patient population includes CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illness/infection, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and IVDA cases not requiring mechanical ventilation
- RN to patient ratio typically 1:4, up to 1:5 depending on acuity
- LPN ratio 4:1 and CNA ratio 1:12 days / 1:16 nights
- 12-hour night shift schedule, , 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Possible low census call-back, up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
- Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
- Telemetry monitoring available at bedside and nurses station
- Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Provide nursing care to progressive care patients including monitoring, medication administration, and coordination with multidisciplinary support teams
- 2-day departmental orientation plus NEO required
- Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with unmet contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
- Schedule operates on a 6-week cycle
- Navy scrub color required

- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
